Building Need
December 2003

Dear Friends,

Many of you have led your church to help us with special needs in the past 18 years.  We are so grateful for this. You helped us buy a boat (pre-volcano days), which we used to start the Kabanut Baptist church.  You've helped us with other special needs which enabled us to start churches and train nationals.  You came to our rescue when earthquakes shattered our water tanks.  Some of you gave to help us recover following our loss of buildings and goods to the 1994 volcanoes.

One of the things we did following the volcanoes was to obtain a lease on ground in Kokopo for future relocation and building of a missionary home.  In the meantime we've been living in a small cottage we built in the village where the Rabaul Bible Baptist Church relocated.  It is time to move on from there and we are building a house in the new Provincial capital, Kokopo.  The house is actually two separate units and can accommodate two missionary families. It will also have two offices, one of which will be used for the production of printed materials used in the islands ministries.  At the time we started building, we learned that our son, Richard II and family, would be joining us in the islands ministries, so we proceeded to build a two-family dwelling, land being hard to come by and housing outrageously expensive.

We have done this by a loan, which we obtained through our church, Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple.  Richard will help make the payments while he lives there.  However, we were not able to borrow the full amount needed, so we are raising an  additional $10,000 for:
  • Two 1,000-gallon water tanks for collecting rain water.
  • Solar panel unit for hot water.
  • Tile flooring for the downstairs unit, some plumbing and electrical work, and some walling (sheetrock), paint, etc. for the downstairs;
  • We also hope to get an air-conditioner for each floor. This will provide us some comfort as well as add longevity and efficiency to office equipment.
God has recently supplied $6,000 toward these needs. I f you are able to help us with the remaining $4,000, it would be a great blessing.  If you can't help financially, we will appreciate your prayers on our behalf.

If the Lord leads you to help with this need, please send it through our church or designate it as the Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple house loan.

Thank you for prayerfully considering this. We are looking forward to even greater opportunities in PNG if the Lord tarries.

In Christ,
Richard and Joyce Crotts
