Jerrabomberra Community Centre

“For Parents Only” Class

Valerie Teaching in Scripture Class

Church on the Move

This Sunday, the 4th of July we will be moving to our new location, the Jerrabomberra Community Centre. The school hall where we have been meeting for the past several years is undergoing major renovations. God worked it out that the centre just became available recently. This will put us in a much more visible area of the community. We will also be able to store our equipment there instead of transporting it back and forth each week in our trailer. Pray with us that the transition will go smoothly and this new location will help bring in more new faces each week. |
Our country is also going through a major change. Just this past week the Labor government voted in a new prime minister, Julia Gillard. She has already publicly announced that she does not believe in God. This is disturbing since there are many groups out there already trying to get Scripture classes and chaplains out of the public school system. This could give those anti-Christian groups more power to push their legislation through. Pray that this will not happen and at the next public election a leader who favors Christian values will be elected.
Last month was a huge month of outreach for us. We had 58 people attend our 50’s night outreach event, including several families that we have been trying to reach. Pray that as relationships are strengthened these families will take the next step and join us for our church services. We also wrapped up our “For Parents Only” class. We had nine parents complete the six-week course. We plan to offer similar programs in the future to our community.
Scripture classes in the local public school are still going strong. Valerie helped teach the stories of Joshua, Gideon and Esther this past month to over 190 Kindergarten through Grade 2 children and their teachers. We are getting a lot of positive feedback from the teachers who attend the classes with the children. They are very pleased with the “professionalism” we bring to each class. We teach each story through a variety of methods including puppetry, music, drama, and flannel graph. We haven’t heard yet if the Ethics classes will be coming here. This could seriously affect the number of kids coming to our classes.

Prayer Requests:
We have several prayer requests this month. First of all, Valerie will be having foot surgery on the 20th of July to remove the plate from her right foot. The surgeon feels that the bones have fused properly and the plate is now causing some pain. She is also experiencing some pain and deformity in her left foot and will be seeing the surgeon on the 8th to see if anything needs to be done. Continue praying for our finances. We just heard from another church this week that they had to drop our support due to the current economic situation. We have Australian taxes coming up soon to pay along with Val’s medical expenses and some major car maintenance needed. Also, pray with us that the Lord will lead people to our ministry who have a desire to work for Him here. Thank you for your faithful prayers!

You are a big part of helping us reach the lost here Down Under. Thank you!!

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified,
even as it is with you. – 2 Thess. 3:1
