A Very Busy Winter
Our winter has started off very busy here Down Under.
We had several activities going on this past month and were
quite pleased with the turnout for each of them. Both Dwayne and
Valerie taught relationship classes each week. Eight men
completed the men’s course and ten women completed the ladies’
course. We got some wonderful feedback from several of the
participants. Please pray that they take what they learned and
apply it to their relationships. On the 21st, two families
joined us for a Family Fun Night. It was a great time of
fellowship. Our Unwind and Design night keeps growing each
month. We had over 12 ladies and children participate in June.
Valerie did a devotion on “God’s Scrapbook.” One of the
highlights of the month was the opportunity that we had to go
out into our community and share the Gospel in the public
schools. Dwayne did a message for two large assembly Scripture
classes for a public school in a neighboring town. Valerie
helped with three Scripture classes last week to over
two-hundred and eighty children and their teachers! We praise
the Lord for the opportunity to tell these precious children
about Jesus. Thank you so much for your prayers. This Saturday
we plan to finally do our Thanksgiving Project for the local
school where we meet. We expect several of our church folks to
come out, do some gardening, and show their appreciation for the
local public school.
Please pray . . .
We have several prayer requests we would like to
share with you. First of all, pray for our ministry here. During
the winter months our numbers tend to drop a little. Please pray
for us as we seek new outreach ideas and pray for the
faithfulness of our people. Secondly, we praise the Lord for a
couple in our church who has expressed an interest in possibly
helping start up a youth ministry here. They will also be
assisting Valerie with Children’s Church each Sunday. This is a
huge answer to prayer. Now we pray for wisdom and direction as
we seek to reach the teenagers in our area. Also, next month
Valerie will be starting a new class for the women called “The
Seven Habits of Highly Effective Women.” Several ladies from the
previous class have signed up already. Pray that many women will
join the class and grow in their relationship with the Lord. Our
next Unwind and Design night will be on the 28th of July. We
will be having a “Christmas in July” theme. Finally, please pray
for Valerie. She has been having pain in her right foot for
quite a while and having trouble wearing shoes. She went to a
foot surgeon this week who said that she has Hallux Rigidus, a
condition which is tremendously affecting the mobility of her
foot. She also has some arthritis in the foot, nerve and
cartilage damage. The doctor’s office was able to schedule the
much-needed foot surgery for this Thursday July 2nd (Aussie
time). She will hopefully only be in the hospital for one night
but will be off her feet for quite a while. Please pray for her
quick and complete recovery. Due to the surgery and
hospitalization this will put a huge financial strain on us.
Please pray that we will have the finances to cover all of the
bills. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support
