Mother’s Day 2010

The National Day of Thanksgiving

Dwayne Speaking at F.A.I.T.H.

Praying for the Increase

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. -1 Cor. 3:6

This really sums up our ministry here in Jerrabomberra. Over the past several years we have done a lot of planting and watering. Now we are praying and ask that you also pray for the increase! So many seeds have been sown and continue to be sown here. This past month we saw our attendance pick back up some after the holiday break in April. We had a great Mother’s Day Service.
Our parenting class, “For Parents Only,” has been very enlightening and encouraging. We have eight parents coming each week for the class. We will be wrapping it up next Monday. Both Dwayne and Valerie are teaching this class together. Please pray that we all take what we have learned and apply it to our own parenting.

Australian National Day of Thanksgiving
On the 30th of May, our church held a special Thanksgiving service to commemorate the Australian National Day of Thanksgiving. This year’s focus was small business so we invited the owners of one of our local small businesses, the Jerra General Store. We presented one of the owners of the store, Sue, with a special framed certificate which showed our church’s thankfulness for their service and contribution to our growing community. Since we don’t have the traditional American holiday here, this has been a wonderful opportunity for us to have a service totally focused on thanking God and each other for our many blessings.
Other ways we continue to plant and water is through our outreach events. Valerie’s Unwind and Design craft nights are still going strong. In the past few months we have been having several first-time guests. Pray with us that all the ladies will take Valerie’s devotions to heart and apply what they’ve heard to their lives.

F.A.I.T.H.
We have really felt a burden for the youth in our area so we are teaching a youth Bible study (F.A.I.T.H.) each Friday night. Right now we are teaching the book of Romans. Last Friday night the young people enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship at a bonfire hosted by one of the teen’s parents. This week we will be getting back into our regular study. Please pray that we will reach more and more young people with the Gospel and that this group will continue to grow.

Prayer Requests:
June is going to be another busy month as we prepare for our biggest outreach event of the year, “50’s Night,” on the 5th of June. Each year we have a themed event where we encourage our church people to invite their family and friends. It is a chance for us to get out into the community and for others to get to know us. Right now we have over fifty people signed up. Pray that we will make some wonderful connections with others in our community. Also, on the 17th of June, Valerie will begin three weeks of teaching Scripture to over 180 kids in the local public school. Please continue to pray for our finances. We have a huge car insurance bill due this month. Next month we have Australian taxes to pay and Valerie will undergo more foot surgery.

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified,
even as it is with you. – 2 Thess. 3:1
